A Word About Us

Second Chance - Mason Animal Rescue is a non profit 501c(3) that was established in 2012.

Our Mission Statement:  To advocate for the humane treatment of animals and stray animal control, facilitate a spay and neuter program, prevent abandonment of animals and provide public education in animal care, behavior and humane treatment of animals.

Current Projects

We are really in need of donations for these two ongoing Community Outreach Services.

Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our society faces, Second Chance - Mason Animal Rescue is dedicated to making a lasting impact through our campaigns and programs. While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of progressive strategies. Second Chance - Mason Animal Rescue at a Glance

A Distinct Identity

Second Chance - Mason Animal Rescue knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. From the beginning, our Animal Rescue Service realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch Second Chance - Mason Animal Rescue. We work closely with our local City Pound to save animals from euthanasia. So far all adoptable animals have been saved! Please consider volunteering your time or donating much needed funds to the animals of Mason County Texas, they need you!

Our rescue efforts rely on generous donations from people like yourself.  All donations are tax deductible.  The money we raise goes towards the medical expenses and care of the dogs and cats we rescue.

Black Mouth Curr/Hound Mix

This boy was found running around Mason Texas all alone. Howie is about 4 years old and a little uncertain about things right now. He is friendly, neutered and ready for adoption. Howie is working on his leash walking skills. He loves treats and should be fun to train. With a little love and patience this boy will be a great new family member for the lucky family who adopts him! You can find him in Mason Texas just contact us and we will tell you all we know!

Malinois Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix

Meet Lily!  Lily is approximately 18 months old and a happy young girl.  She was surrendered to Second Chance and is now in foster care and doing great. Lily has had her initial vet work done, is heartworm negative and will have her spay appointment soon!  Lily has received very little obedience training but is very smart and treat motivated so training should be a breeze! Lily is extremely energetic and alert. She would do best with an active family who likes to include their furry best friend on those adventures! Lily really loves to ride in the car so she will be happy to go along on those fun outings! Second Chance Mason Animal Rescue is currently taking applications for this superb young girl!

Wes is Your Best Pal!

Wes’ heritage is pure Texas – he has long legs, his build is sleek, his paws are webbed, and he is extremely handsome.

If you like large dogs, Wes is one of the best. He is smart. Intuitive. Good-natured. Friendly. Affectionate. Easy-going. He listens well. Wes is loyal without being needy. He has a calming presence. Wes likes other dogs and gets along well with those who want a dog-pal.

Wes knows basic commands and has a natural ability to learn new skills. He loves car rides and is a good walking companion.

Wes has known only love in his short life. A young family reluctantly relinquished him when they moved. Since then, Wes has become a favorite with Second Chance volunteers. But volunteers are no substitute for a family and kennel life is no substitute for a real home. Wes will truly earn your love.

Wes is 3 years old, current on his vaccinations, neutered, and heart-worm negative.

Terrier Mix

Kisses and cuddles are in store for the lucky person who gives Toby his forever home!

Toby is one of the most lovable dogs you will meet.  We estimate his age to be about 1 1/2 years old, and he weighs a little under 40 lbs.  He is neutered, heart worm negative and up to date on vaccinations.  Toby loves playing fetch and going for nice long walks. He rides well in a car, and enjoys playing with other dogs.  He is young and still has a lot of energy to burn, but with a consistent owner and training he will thrive.

Harley is one of our recent rescues who is looking for a home to call her own.  She is extremely social and loves playing with other dogs.  Harley is about 1 1/2 years old, spayed, fully vaccinated and heart worm negative.  Another plus is that she is potty trained!  Looking for a small dog with a sweet personality Harley may just be the girl for you!  She is currently in a foster home in Fredericksburg.  Meet and greets can be scheduled.

Lucky was at our local pound and scheduled to be euthanized, but fortunately we were able to pull him in time, and he is now safe and sound.  Lucky had a terrible case of hookworms, but he now has a clean bill of health!  We estimate him to be between 6-8 weeks old.

He is very friendly and affectionate puppy who loves to have plenty of play time but also enjoys just hanging out with people and other dogs.  He is a good looking boy with a winning personality!  Looking for a great family companion?  You could make Lucky’s day!
